Biography of Hitler - History

Adam wrote a lengthy three-part post on the life and times of Adolf Hitler, the leader of the German Nazi party in the 30s and 40s.
Hitler was a clever guy, there's no doubt about that. He managed to use fear and hatred to control the German people, and he pulled some political sleight-of-hand to control the Reichstag. From Adam's post:
"Papen, the Chancellor asked for the dissolvement of the reichstag as he could not reach any consensus with and requested that elections be indefinately postponed.
A lack of military support meant that Hindenburg, the president, refused this request and dismissed Papen.
Schleicher, his replacement went the same way and finally Hitler was appointed to lead a coalition government. He then stopped any attempts to allow the government to gain a majority, forcing elections. "
The memory of Hitler will live forever... it'll outlast the contributions of 'good' people, like Mother Theresa, it'll outlast the memory of Johnny Carson - it'll probably outlive the can of Spam I have in my kitchen.
Spam lasts forever.
We're accustomed to reviling Hitler, but that's not the case in other countries. I've actually met people that say that they 'love Hitler' because he was a 'military genius' and he 'made Germany strong'.
'Oh, really?' I replied snootily, 'If you love him, why don't you marry him?'
This defense works in nearly every situation, especially when defending your thesis.
