Honestly, it's not even my post, but an article in Slate magazine that really deserves the commendation.
My post warned people against the lunacy of buying expensive diamonds... due to the De Beers cartel, diamond prices are artificially high, as opposed to gold, which is freely traded on the world market.
The irony of my post is that, even though I'm ranting against the spread of diamonds as a symbol of wealth, all the google ads on the post are diamond-related.
So: get angry, get steamed, then buy a big, fat diamond. You'll feel better. Honestly.
If you like diamonds, fine. Just smash the cartel to pieces and get yourself a rock for $10.
Or, word on the street is pointing at artificial diamonds paving the way for cheap, beautiful stones. Read this thread from Slashdot to appreciate how good this stuff can get.
