More Nudity - Philosophy Blog
November 15th 2006 01:49
Damn, I hate to give Adrian more attention than he already gets. He's learned the trick to getting Orble-eye-catching traffic: post about nudity or sex, or even nude sex.
In his latest post on Philosophy Blog, he asks if Europeans are better off with their healthy tolerance to the human body.
After all, he says, they have nude beaches, sex on TV, mixed naked saunas. This place you speak of, Europe, it sounds like paradise?
I think it goes back to English culture. After all, Australia, Canada and the US are all former colonies, and we've inherited that prudish English culture, with the fear of skin, the stiff upper lip and general intolerance.
Meanwhile, those fiesty Mediterraneans are writhing and bucking in oily orgies next to piles of olives and skins of wine. Sounds good, don't it?
In fact, I think it's time to start a 'Family'-oriented lobby group that advocates more nudity on TV, and increased sex in movies and video games.

Though I should add -- the post did claim that Australians are more liberal off the beach, and out of the sauna. So the point (if there was one) was more to do with the "Isn't that strange" of cultural variation than "Let's all get naked".

Reminds me of a show I fell asleep watching last night on the fall of the Roman Empire.
