John Doe from JDMFilmReviews pointed out to me recently that I've never linked to his site on Post of the Day.
Certainly, it was an oversight. By the time I thought about nominating one of his posts, he had accumulated a large readership and was getting decent traffic. The Post of the Day is most useful to new bloggers... getting some additional traffic is a boon, and the link helps with google rank.
JDMFilmReviews is past all that. Johnny has written an impressive number of reviews on his site, and he picks movies from every genre, every era, every country that you could imagine. Well, maybe not every...
I've met John in person, and there's a huge difference between us. I'm an aspiring writer using the topic of movies to write interesting things, in general. Sure, I like movies, and I try and watch really good ones. John, on the other hand, is a real film phreak. He's got a disturbing library-like memory of films, actors and directors.
This encyclopedic knowledge about cinema makes John a real film reviewer, while I'm pretty much a hack, a casual fan. Still, I make a mean coconut chicken curry.
