Lord of Lord of the Rings

With disappointing blockbuster seasons, Hollywood is digging up the salted remains of the barrel to try and kickstart more people into going to the theatres. We've seen too many comic books turned into movies, and then disaster movies, and now remakes of old classics.
What happens when every decent movie gets remade? Remakes of remakes?
Ahmed doesn't care - his argument is that videogames will rise to fill the moviegoing void.
"Nowadays games are being judged for their narrative structures, their art directions among other things. These elements are helping these games find mass appeal.
This is in large part due to the technological enhancements, now the game world is in full 3D and there is enough grunt in modern technology to push some really good art direction."
I think games have very good potential to be as narrative as movies, and the level of interaction can cause the user to get trapped in that world.
Unfortunately, games also try to cater to the lowest common denominator, like Hollywood summer flicks, so, often, games are just nauseating replicas of the last bring trend.

I agree that videogames do try and impress everyone and a lot of it is little more than drivel. Shoot this shoot that, press this button, open door, shoot some more. Yet they dare to say these games are good.
I wanted to point out the fact that blockbuster games that make everyone happy (from the diehard fan to the diehard killer) and the two games that I somewhat featured (metal gear solid and Legend of Zelda) prove it. Both are actually as good as any hollywood movie in terms of story and direction with the interactivity thrown in for kicks.
I have (like many others) played all the shooter clones and sadly it is true that they do take up atleast 90% of the market, but unlike movies I find games after much hype tend to satisfy the desires of the rabbid fan better than movies. I mean how much hype surrounded "Superman returns" and how many peope actually enjoyed it? Compare that to the amount of hype "Legend of Zelda" and "Metal Gear solid 4" are getting, I swear if either of those games suck... I'll eat my shorts (if I wore any).
