Optical illusions, heroes, and pick ups
February 4th 2007 10:59
So Cibby has unwisely invited me to join this blog. And until he kicks me off it, I'm going to be writing about once a week, using idiosyncratic and completely unfair criteria to select posts I think are worth mentioning.
I'd prefer to direct traffic towards less well-known blogs, and towards work that the author sweated and bled over. But the bottom line is that I find the post interesting -- regardless of how high or low your karma is, regardless of how popular the post already is, regardless of how old the post is, and regardless of how much or how little work went into it.
Now, I don't get around the Orble network that much. So I encourage you to PM me or leave a comment if you'd like to nominate a post, whether someone else's or your own (don't be shy). Word of mouth is pretty much the only way that unknown but deserving posts are going to get some recognition.
Anyway, here's three picks.
1. I reckon Ms Katyzzz of MS Paint Art deserves some kudos for finding this optical illusion. It'll take five seconds -- have a visit to her post, click on the link, and prepare to never trust your perceptions or any eyewitness testimony again. The image is from a collection by Dr Michael Bach.
2. Hats off to Questionable Content of Shlurred Words for his
insights into Brisbane mating rituals and for joining the prestigious club of public fornicators.
The story might be bullshit (who knows?), but the tale is spellbinding.
3. The prophet known as JohnDoe of Film & TV on DVD was talking about Heroes way before the rest of Australia had heard of it. If you missed the first episode last Wednesday, drop by JD's for the write-up and the trailer. He also wrote, recently, about the Heroes graphic novel.

| She must have been horny as shit, desperate, or both – because I threw the "If you want to get laid tonight, let’s go now" line at her and she bit the bait. She dragged me outside, so I grabbed Josh and told him if he didn’t hear from me within an hour, to go without me. Outside, the conversation continued. |

I didn't think your little black face would turn into Cib's. Talk about optical illusions.
At least now I've had a mention I won't need to worry about currying favour, which was a thought crossing my mind until I saw me up in lights.
So now I can relax and visit without fear or favour.
Well done.
