State Sanctioned Kidnapping - Talking Headlines
July 17th 2006 09:37
One of the newer blogs, Talking Headlines, posted an interesting story that caught the eye of bloggers in the Orble network.
The post was especially heartwrenching... a newborn baby born with small kidneys, was recommended by the State of Washington doctors to have a catheter inserted in case the child developed kidney problems.
The mother refused and wanted a second opinion.
But you can't push around the government - they make the rules, after all. They granted themselves custody of the child, a ludicrous idea, along with turning coal into milk chocolate and reversing the spin of the Earth to go back in time.
From the post:
"If Carlsen’s last name was instead Gates, it is doubtful that any of this would have occurred. Would doctors have challenged Bill & Melinda Gates if they were in the same position and wanted to seek alternative treatment?"
An apt comparison... surely Bill Gates would have second, third and nth opinions, if he wanted. After all, he brings those delicious gold coins to Washington with his empire built on Windows and Office.
