The best places to eat in Sydney - SydneyTable
April 27th 2006 02:32
I didn't even take a second look at this post before I threw it up on Post of the Day.
Oh, Ed struck a vein, and it's gushing sweet, sweet honey.
He's posted a list of some of the best restaurants in Sydney, from the expensive, but delicious, to the cheap, yet still delicious.
I haven't eaten at many of these places, but Ed's descriptions are tantalizing:
Bar Italia: This Norton Street cafe has a legacy like almost no other. A place for the whole family, with huge bowls of pasta and quality coffees. Make sure you have the ice cream as well, some of the best in Sydney.
Silva's: Silva's also does chicken, but you know where to go for that. You come to Silva's instead for the other Portuguese dishes; the bacahlau (salt cod), and especially the espetada, a huge hanging skewer with chunks of meat, dripping onto your bread.
Ed's post is so appetizing, that it's worked me up into a furious anger... I'm appalled that he's been eating so well, while I ate a package of instant noodles for lunch. Ed, you cruel, twisted bastard.
Ed's saving grace is that, according to the post's comments, he claims to have never eaten at Tetsuya, one of Sydney's highest contributions to the gastonomic world. Yes, he's still one of us.
I bet he's at home, right now, dialing Tetsuya's to make a reservation, and then he'll gloat about it tomorrow morning, the duck grease still on his fingers and face.
Put down the phone, Ed.
Put down the phone!

But to be fair, other places are just as bad. For example Rockpool is $300-$350 depending on what you choose, without wines which are $120-$240 extra for two people.
